Our Vision

We are creating the world’s largest bike park: a collaboration between interested stakeholders, establishing the Blackwood River Valley Region as a first class state, national and international destination for cycle-tourism.

The fundamental principles supporting the Park are:

  • Cyclists of all abilities will experience awe-inspiring adventures.
  • Everyone who visits the park will want to return.
  • Local business will welcome and support cyclists.
  • Local people will be proud of what has been created.
  • It will be straightforward to become part of the Blackwood Bike Park.

By creating a globally recognisable brand that attracts cyclists of all types and abilities to the area, local villages will see successful and viable businesses grow.

Who are we?

The Blackwood Bike Park is being created by the Balingup and Districts Tourism Association (BADTA). A formal Sub-Committee of BADTA has been tasked with managing and implementing the project. Members comprise a small group of local business operators and cycle industry experts. As the park grows, the governance structure may change and expand, to ensure an appropriate level of local representation and effective management of the project.

Where are we?

The Blackwood Bike Park is a geographical area of 427,000 acres, with a rideable perimeter of 200km. It lies within the Blackwood Basin Catchment, where many waterways feed into the Blackwood River, which has formed the Blackwood River Valley. The valleys and the steep hills that rise on either side of the waterways are the defining features of the Park. The hills are covered with pine plantations, lush green farms and native forests. Together they give the Blackwood Bike Park the terrain, topography, flora and fauna that makes cycling so surprisingly special in this area. It’s Western Australia, but not as you know it.

Within this geographical area lie the delightful villages of Balingup, Nannup, Bridgetown, Greenbushes and Donnelly River. It’s also the home of the famous Linga Longa Bike Park, which will satisfy the appetite of even the boldest downhillers.
